Things to note:
 You must sign up in advance to reserve your space so that we are able to arrange for adequate transportation.
 Late sign-ups will be accepted for each event IF there is enough space left.
 A separate off-site permission form is needed for each off-site event.
 Permission forms are available:
 on the alley bulletin board
 on the web site at http://messiahsouth.org/youth/grades-7-12-youth-group/
 or via email by request.
 Off-site permission forms may be turned in ahead of time or brought with your child on the day of the event.
 No one will be left out. If you are unable to pay some or all of the cost for an event, please contact Kathy Wither at the church office for assistance.
 Friends are welcome! Friends must follow the guidelines listed above.

Event 1
Wednesday, June 14, 12:30-2:00 p.m. – Eder’s Ice Cream
Sign up by: Monday, June 12
What to bring: money for ice cream, off-site permission form.
Details: If you are helping with Bible School, bring a bag lunch. We will eat lunch, then head to Eder’s to cool off with some ice cream.

Event 2
Tuesday, June 20, 1:00-4:00 p.m. – Service Day – ON SITE
Sign up by: no need to sign up, but it is helpful if you can let us know you are coming
What to bring: yourself and a good work ethic
Details: We will begin to make some outdoor games that can be played by children and their families at events such as Family Fun Nights, Rally in the Alley, the Church Picnic, and even sometimes on Second Sundays! Ideas include things such as giant Jenga blocks and hoops made of pool noodles. If you have an idea for a game we can make, bring it! If we can make it, we will. This is the first of several sessions during which we will be making games.
Event 3
Tuesday, June 27, 9:00 a.m.-6:30 p.m. – Ricketts Glen
Sign up by: Sunday, June 18
What to bring: bag lunch, water bottle, change of clothing, swimsuit and a towel (if you wish to swim), snacks (if you like), STURDY SHOES, off-site permission form.
Details:
 Meet at the church at 9 a.m.
 You MUST wear socks and STURDY shoes with a good tread. Absolutely no flip-flops, sandals, or flimsy shoes. Trails can become slippery. You MUST obey adult leaders at all times and respect park rules and safety measures.
 We will hike the glen and end at the lake at the top with plenty of time to hang out on the beach and/or swim.
 We will snack on the trail and eat an early evening meal at the lake.
 The evening meal, water to refill bottles, and daytime snacks will be provided.
 Bring a bag lunch and some snacks of your choosing if you wish.
 Snacks are available for purchase at the beach area (ice cream, etc.) If you wish to purchase snacks, you may bring money.
 Parents may pick up their children at the church at 6:30 p.m.
Event 4
Tuesday, July 11, 9:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. – Del Grosso Amusement Park
Sign up by: Sunday, June 25
What to bring: money for admission, SUNSCREEN, money for food, SUNSCREEN, snacks and/or water bottle (if you wish), SUNSCREEN, appropriate swimwear, towel, SUNSCREEN, change of clothing, off-site permission form . . . and SUNSCREEN!!!!!
Details:
 Meet at the church at 9 a.m.
 Cost of admission is $29.95 for an all-day fun pass, which allows you access to the water park and all rides.
 When teens become separated from the group, you MUST use the buddy system, maintain contact with the designated adults, and respect park rules, safety measures, and meeting times set by the group.
 Passes may be purchased online in advance at a discounted price of $24.95; if you would like to purchase a pass in advance to take advantage of the savings but do not have access to a computer or a printer, contact Kathy Wither to make arrangements to purchase the passes through the church office.
 Parents may pick up their children at the church at 9:00 p.m.
Event 5
Monday-Tuesday, July 17-18, 2-Day Overnight Trip – Camp Mount Luther
Sign up by: Monday, June 30
What to bring: camp medical form, off-site permission form, and you will be mailed a detailed list of what else to bring
Details:
 This is our annual BYG overnight trip to Camp Mount Luther for children in Grades 3-6. It has been our tradition to take along teen mentors. Our younger children love it when teens come along and look up to you!
 Cost: $25 per person (original cost is $100; cost is subsidized by a private donor)
 Contact Kathy Wither as soon as possible if you are interested in attending.
 Each individual attending must submit a medical form filled out by a doctor. These will be provided when you sign up and are required by the camp. Physical must have been performed within the past year.
 Further details will be mailed to those who sign up.

Tuesday, July 25, 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. – Hiking at the Haystacks

What to bring: bag lunch, water bottle, change of clothing, clothes that can get wet and a towel, SUNSCREEN, snacks (if you like), STURDY SHOES, off-site permission form.
Details:
 Meet at the church at 9 a.m.

What to bring: snack or other food item to share, table or yard games if you wish, appropriate swimwear, towel, SUNSCREEN, change of clothing, off-site permission form.
Details:
 Meet at the church at 1 p.m.
 Please bring a snack or other food item to share.
 Snacks and supper will be provided.
 Come when you can; leave when you must: Can’t come at 1:00 but would still like to attend . . . or CAN come at 1:00 but need to leave early? If you can arrange transportation, no problem! You still need to sign up so that we can have enough food and be sure to let us know if you require one-way transportation (and which way).
 Parents may pick up their children at the church at 9:00 p.m.
Event 8
Tuesday, August 8, 2:00-7:30 p.m. – Service Day/Swim Time at Amy’s, South Williamsport
Sign up by: Sunday, July 30
What to bring: change of clothing, swimsuit and a towel (if you wish to swim), SUNSCREEN, snacks to share, off-site permission form.
Details:
 “Open House” – come when you can, leave when you must.
 You may be dropped off at Amy’s house: 30 East Central Avenue, large white house on the Southwest corner of East Central Avenue and Hastings Street
 Eat a good lunch before you come.
 Pizza and drinks will be provided for supper.
 Please bring a snack to share throughout the day.
 We will continue to make outdoor games to be used at church events. Again, if you have an idea for a game we can make, bring it! If we can make it, we will. This is the second of several sessions during which we will be making games.
 There will also be plenty of time to swim, play games, and chill out.
 Parents may pick up their children at Amy’s house at no later than 7:30 p.m.

Sign up by: Sunday, July 30 FIRM – due to staff vacations and required reservations, we must know who is going by this time in order to be able to make arrangements.

We are now forming a group to attend the

ELCA NATIONAL YOUTH GATHERING:  JUNE 27-JULY 1, 2018

THEME:  This Changes Everything!

Youth who have completed Grade 8-12 by June 2018 are eligible to attend.

NOTICE:  All youth who are currently in Grade 7-12 (as well as parents/guardians/interested adults) are invited to an informational meeting in the Scout Room on Sunday, March 26, 2017.
